Fraser Island
Fraser Island is over one hundred and twenty three kilometers in length and is around twenty two kilometers in width.
The history behind Fraser Island started at roughly more than 5,500 years ago when it was occupied by the Butchulla people. It is said that there were potentially 2,000 people inhabiting the island at the time.
The first sighting of the island was by Captain Cook in 1770 and named the Indian Head on the eastern beach after the people.
